This challenge aims to help Walgreens answer specific briefs and make the most of opportunities identified across the business. Previously we’ve helped Walgreens find innovative solutions to help drive awareness of the Walgreens mobile app, as well as marketing and media innovations to win share of the senior 65+ demographic to engage as omnichannel shoppers.
On this page you will be able to view all briefs from Walgreens. The team will review applications on a rolling basis, so we encourage applicants to send in their proposals at their earliest convenience.
Walgreens was founded in 1901 in Chicago, Illinois. Our Retail Pharmacy USA division’s principal retail pharmacy brands are Walgreens (nationwide) and Duane Reade (New York City-only). Together, they form one of the largest drugstore chains in the United States. We operate 9,021 drugstores in 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Approximately 78% of the U.S. population lives within 5 miles of a Walgreens pharmacy. Walgreens sells prescription and non-prescription drugs, as well as general retail merchandise, including household items, convenience and fresh foods, beauty and personal care items, photo cards and gifts, and candy. Walgreens filled approximately 818 million prescriptions in fiscal year 2020 (including immunisations) with the pharmacy business accounting for 75% of sales.
The Walgreens Start-up Challenge aims to uncover innovative solutions and build truly exciting partnerships that can have meaningful impact on the business.
The Challenges will run for 8-10 weeks. Most challenges will have an application phase that runs for a number of weeks before the analysis phase. Finalists will then be selected to present their pitch to Walgreens.
