Dani grew up in Australia, working through a variety of media and marketing related roles, before landing in the UK in 2018. Dani brings her wealth of experience to True where she leads on the marketing and brand activities, as well as conjuring up amazing events across True House to bring the community together.
Over the past couple of years, I found that in my free time I was really gravitating toward the world of entrepreneurship, innovation and the evolution of business and work. Whether it was podcasts I was listening to, books or articles I was reading or talks I was attending, I loved learning about how people were reimagining products and services that had been stagnant for years. When I heard about True, I knew that I wanted to be a part of this world every day and play a part in scaling a company that genuinely wants to do business in a better way.
I get to tell stories and create experiences that connect people. This sparks curiosity about what we do and how we do it so that everyone wants to get involved.
I love the variety and the interesting people I get to work with. I don’t love that I can’t say yes to everything (even though I usually want to!)
Canva – it’s an incredible business idea that democratises design skill and really empowers all kinds of people, brands, companies, charities etc to level up on their brand outputs. Also the fact that it’s one of the few unicorn start-ups that are actually profitable, they have strong moral values and direct a lot of profits toward charitable efforts globally. As an expat, I love to see Aussie brands paving the way!
I’ve been lucky to have a few colleagues that I’ve worked with along the way who have encouraged me by sharing new opportunities or supporting new routes I’ve wanted to explore. But if I had to pick one person, my mum - she taught me the importance of continuous education, hard work, a love of travel and the power of a pivot (she has enjoyed three very different career paths whilst also juggling being a working mother). All of which combined, to give me the tools to make the move from Sydney to London in 2018, pivot careers recently from almost a decade in the media industry and ultimately shape the path that I’m on today.
Danielle’s expertise at True:
When designing plans for our HQ in London, we wanted to breathe new life into our workplace, to create a warm, welcoming space for our team and community with collaboration front of mind. Art plays a stand-out role in achieving this.
Did you know that 80% of consumer spending is done by women (a total of $20 trillion) and yet only 2% of all VC Capital is in all-women led businesses. These numbers shed a disappointing light on the industry - and business landscape more broadly - and so we invited the brilliant women of our community to discuss topics such as this on International Women's Day in a panel hosted at True House.
“Ella is super smart, hugely experienced, incredibly energetic and completely down to earth — everything she has achieved she has earned through hard work and determination, which I love. Oh, and she talks. A lot.”
“Tash is built with the loveliest of bones. She’s a real doer, with grit, gusto and grace.”
