Serena grew up in the Midlands and studied in the North, before coming to London to work in insurance supporting their Exec teams and helping to develop their graduate talent. She started at True in 2016.

Why did you choose True?
I wanted to be a part of building something new in a company that shared similar ideals to myself. True sparked more than that for me though; it is unique, inspiring and incredibly genuine. I knew instantly from meeting Matt and Paul that I a) liked them and b) wanted to grow with them on the True journey.
How would you describe your job to a five-year-old?
I spend time getting to understand our people better and I help to draw a lot of dots together.
What do you love most — and least — about your job?
I love the autonomy, and the fast-paced, big-thinking environment. I am proud to be working with people, and for a business that I care about — both very important to me. We have managed to foster such a stimulating, exciting, friendly and supportive culture at True, it’s quite special.

Which person or people helped shape and inspire who you are today?
My parents — I am fortunate enough to have a very close-knit family and we remain a solid unit. I always remember how hard my parents worked and supported me even through some tough decisions and I have always wanted to make them proud. They gave me freedom but also kept me grounded — I think a lot of where I am today has been about working things out for myself.
